Description:
VMMT-204, the Joint V-22 Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS), provides the initial training for Marine, Air Force, Navy and International pilots and aircrew prior to their assignment to operational squadrons. Additionally, the Navy recently activated VRM-50 as the future Navy CMV-22 Fleet Replacement Squadron. These training units have a curriculum which includes a Ground School portion currently administered via two-dimensional Shareable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) courseware on a Learning Management System. The current SCORM courseware format and content are based on 20th century principles of Instructional System Design and the delivery method has not changed since its inception in the mid-1990s. Students require an additional laboratory type representation of the aircraft to augment the two-dimensional courseware. The purpose of this project is to develop a modernized Navy CMV-22 and Marine Corps MV-22 academic curriculum by augmenting the existing SCORM training media with virtual tools which can present the aircraft systems and interfaces in a three-dimensional virtual environment.
