Description:

FOD is a significant driver for engine removal for nearly every platform in Naval Aviation. Debris ingestion had caused the F-35, F-18 and AV-8B to have unacceptable levels of readiness and safety. The comprehensive FOD program seeks to understand, quantify, and prescribe solutions to FOD and requires coordination across commands and installations. The purpose of this project is to develop an on-wing Inlet IDMS capable of detecting engine FOD events.
