Description:

The Office of Naval Research (ONR) and NAVAIR are jointly developing the ER-DIFAR, over-the-side, sonobuoy. The ER-DIFAR is the first of the Passive Extended Range Sonobuoy System family of new sonobuoys that achieves detection of extremely quiet targets at tactically significant ranges. The sonobuoy met all but the Air Certification parts of the requirements spec. The purpose of this project is to improve the design of the sonobuoy so that it can be tested and delivered to the fleet for analysis.
